The GED test is given once a month in Quincy and twice a year in Pittsfield. Test-takers must submit their applications and a $35.00 testing fee to the Regional Office of Education at 507 Vermont Street in Quincy no later than five business days before each test. The testing schedule is available from the Regional Office of Education by calling (217) 277-2080. The students currently enrolled in John Wood Community College's Adult Education program may receive assistance from their instructors to complete the application. The GED test consists of five parts: Writing Skills, Social Studies, Natural Science, Reading and Math.
Adult Education classes are offered at the Main Campus and the Uptown Adult Education Center in Quincy, the Pittsfield Education Center, and other locations throughout the district. Classes are held morning, afternoon and evenings. Instructional materials are loaned to students in the program without charge. Assistance with transportation and child care is available.
